Nutrition

Nutrition is how food affects the health of the body. Food is comprised of macronutrients including protein, carbohydrate and fat that not only offer calories to fuel the body and give it energy but play specific roles in informing the body and maintaining health.

Nutrients have one or more of three basic functions: they provide energy, contribute to body structure, and/or regulate chemical processes in the body. These basic functions allow us to detect and respond to environmental surroundings, move, excrete wastes, respire (breathe), grow, and reproduce.

A healthy diet throughout life promotes healthy pregnancy outcomes, supports normal growth, development and aging, helps to maintain a healthy body weight, and reduces the risk of chronic disease leading to overall health and well-being.

Therefore nutrition can’t be ignored in the human prevention of dis-eases or healing phase.
